Hi everyone!

We’d like to thank all of you for all the support you’ve given Made in Japan over the past two and a bit years. We’re extremely flattered that you enjoy the music we make and that you’ve continually come to support us at our live shows.

Before you get worried, this is by no means a break-up letter! We just feel that at this point of slight renewal in our career, we would take a moment to acknowledge the people that have made us who we are: our fans!

Now we need to ask for your help!

In the coming months we will be releasing a brand-new single. Which song it will be is up for you to speculate but it shouldn’t be too difficult to work out.

In light of this, we want to give our Debut EP one final hurrah. If you could help us out by doing either or both of the following, once or one hundred times we would greatly appreciate it.

1: Request us on FBi Radio at any time by sending a text message to 0409 945 945 or call them up and have a chat about how much you love MIJ on 8332 2999.

2: Head to our triple j Unearthed page at http://www.triplejunearthed.com.au/Artists/View.aspx?artistid=9414 and download Light Shadows or Invertuoso. While you’re there you could even give it a quick review.

Thanks guys, we’ll see you soon!

Much love,

MIJ

New Photos

Until last Thursday it had been more than a year since our last photo shoot and we were more than ready to get some new shots under our belt. We were lucky enough to break this drought with the help of Angelo Kehagias. Angelo has shot some of the biggest bands in Sydney and the World but rather than rattling them all off, check out the first of many shots which he took of us on Thursday. The results really speak for themselves.

Angelo also has a blog and a portfolio of his work on his website so be sure to check it out by following this link.

We'll be continuing to upload new photos as they come in so be sure to stay posted.

Half Time!

Hey MIJies,

This is my first blog post! I am going to de-flower myself with a brief run down on a very turbulent 6 months on the MIJ front.

We have just come to the end of a relatively long period of consecutive gigs. We always enjoy playing shows but rocking at Come Together Festival was a particularly amazing experience for us. To be treated like VIPs with an artist room, riders and the rest was new and exciting for us. It was the first proper festival we've ever played, and if you were in the audience I'm sure you could tell we were enjoying ourselves. I could definitely get used to playing on bills with bands like Cloud Control and Art Vs Science.

We've been booked up almost every week since February, with some weekends seeing back to back shows. One of the most memorable was Bondi BLYMP: An underage festival at Bondi Pavilion right down on the beach. Sounds awesome right? Well unfortunately it was freezing cold, raining and gale force winds. Not to mention that a late set meant the kids had to get home out of the weather! In saying this, I would like to give a big thanks to the 20 or 30 people that stuck it out in the horrible conditions to watch us.

Another highlight was definitely our sold out show at Spectrum with Ghoul and Megastick Fanfare. Playing with those guys needs little explanation. They're amazing.

We have been working hard on writing new material and we played two of these, Waiting In Line and Free Spirits, at some of our more recent gigs. We also enjoyed adding a cover of Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs to our set, something we don't often do but is always a bit of fun.

I feel our sound is forever maturing and our skills constantly improving with every new track we complete. In some ways, as James mentioned to me, it feels like we could even be writing for a 2nd album as our sound continues to become more refined.

I am excited and optimistic about the next couple of months. I feel like we have made much headway on the scene this year, and getting ourselves our their with our EP has done wonders.

I hope to see you all at a gig soon and take care. Keep an eye our for us rocking your way in August.

Much love,

Jono

Sydney Morning Herald Appearance

Yesterday was our debut appearance in The Sydney Morning Herald.

We were lucky enough to get a few quotes and a nice big picture in Friday's 'Metro'.

If you want to check out the article, which is about the numerous FBi fundraising gigs happening all over the city, then follow this link.

We will be taking part in the fundraising by playing at The Annandale Hotel this Wednesday June 20th, so come down and support a good cause.

Hope to see you there!

First fan Video!

Hey guys,

It's been a while coming but we finally have our first fan video!

I know you're thinking 'wow you guys are kinda well known on the sydney scene, don't you have heaps?'

Well the short answer is NO. But not anymore!

We were lucky enough to have someone film us playing Invertuoso last Friday when we supported the Whiskey Go Go's so we hope you enjoy!

If you want to add to the collection, be sure to whip out your cameras/phones at the next gig and upload it to youtube. We'd much appreciate it!

MIJ Festival Fever!

Hi everyone

So post EP launch we've been busy booking gigs. At the moment we've got a bunch of shows lined up for the rest of the year until around September including a few festivals which we're really excited about, starting this Saturday with the My Filthy Riot Festival at the ol faithful the Annandale Hotel. Then at the end of April we've managed to book a spot on the Essential Festival lineup which is going down between Oxford Arts, Q-Bar and Spectrum. And finaly we're looking at a spot on the Come Together bill in early June, not to mention a fair few other shows dotted in between.

We're heading up to Newcastle to play a show at the Cambridge Hotel next Wednesday (25th) which we're looking forward to, it being our first gig on foreign soil so to speak.

This past month we've also been busy writing more new songs a couple of which we hope to let off the leash over the next few gigs. So we've been keeping ourselves well and truly occupied these past few weeks. Hope to see all your familiar faces in the not too distant future.

Peace

Tom

First Post (The Post That Hurts The Most)

So this is the first post from me (Tom) up on the official MIJ blog.

At the moment our esteemed colleague James Cooney is OS in the U.K. hence no recent or upcoming gigs. Just prior to James' departure we smashed out a couple of new songs which are still under development but feeling pretty solid at this point. These two newies are a but further down the progressive/experimental proverbial alleyway, but still distinctly Made in Japan hopefully. We'll let the punters decide for themselves when we play them live (whenever that may be).

In addittion to these two newies we've been re-hashing a couple of old "newies" that never really made it out of the MIJ pipeline, re-recording some instrumentation and re-writing/recording lyrics. So with so much new music and material floating around the MIJ camp we're getting pretty excited about the launch (shameless plug plug plug).

As far the EP itself is concerned well MIJ can confirm that it's well on it's way to your CD player/car stereo/iPod come Feb.

Until next post...

Tom
